Gustaf och Viktor Norén: Bandet som aldrig brister
Kerstin och Jans hus ligger i Kvarnsveden, ett lugnt villaområde i Borlänge. Köksväggen är täckt av skolfoton på de fyra barnen. Det är Gustaf, Carl och Viktor – som alla håller på med musik. Och så lillasyster Josefine, som är skolsköterska. I familjen ingår numera 14 barnbarn, de har lite svårt att få plats just här. Fast på gården står en snöhäst och i badrummet hänger en liten, liten morgonrock på tork.
På väggen sitter också två refuseringsbrev ställda till Mando Diao. Eller ”Mando Jao” står det på det ena. Det är samma skivbolagskvinna som skrivit båda, med två års mellanrum. Hon tycker inte att de är tillräckligt intressanta för att satsa på.
I vardagsrummet hänger guldskivor, omslag och idolporträtt. Både från Mando Diao och Sugarplum Fairy, sönernas tidigare band. Vi samlar oss kring soffbordet.
Gustaf och Viktor ska intervjuas, det var i det här hemmet allt började. I ett hörn står en gammal skolgitarr av märket Yamaha som båda lärde sig spela på. Och så pianot.

– Det jag och Gustaf är, är ju familj och musik, säger Viktor Norén i ett klipp som snurrar runt på sociala medier i samband med deras kommande fyra julkonserter. Och ja, killarna är just det: bröder och skapare av ljuvliga toner.
Gustaf och Viktor Noréns återförening efter åren isär
Bröderna Gustaf, 40, och Viktor Norén, 36, som just nu är aktuella i årets säsong av Så mycket bättre på TV4 har pysslat med musik sedan urminnes tider. Under många år hade bröderna Gustaf och Viktor Norén framgångsrika musikkarriärer – på varsitt håll. Gustaf Norén i bandet Mando Diao, och lillebror Viktor Norén i Sugarplum Fairy.
Men efter att de båda lämnat sina band fanns plötsligt möjligheten för bröderna att börja spela musik ihop igen. Och när de efter 20 år började göra musik tillsammans igen var de plötsligt tillbaka där allt började. Förra hösten slog bröderna sig samman som duo och skapade albumet Hymns to the rising sun.

Gustaf describes the rural surroundings of his childhood as carefree and creative. His talent for music showed very soon at school, as well as his liking for playing roles. According to his mother, he was a born actor.
During Gustaf's childhood and teenage years football played a big role. As other members of Mando Diao, he was a fan of local football club IK Brage which had strong roots in the working class.
