About us

The Zelmerlöw & Björkman Foundation was stablished in 2013 by Swedish artist Måns Zelmerlöw and tennis legend Jonas Björkman. The foundation works primarily in Kenya and Sweden to support children and youth living in vulnerable situations.

Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability by providing education and fostering personal growth. We strive to create lasting, meaningful change in the lives of those who need it most.

Our Focus Areas

We focuses on empowering vulnerable children and youth by offering opportunities for education and personal development. Our work spans several key areas:

  1. Education: We provide scholarships and support for secondary and vocational schooling to help students build a brighter future through learning​.
  2. Residential Support: Internats (boarding facilities) are offered to ensure students have a safe and supportive environment while pursuing their studies​.
  3. Girl Empowerment: By addressing gender-specific challenges, we work to enhance opportunities for girls, fostering their growth and independence​.

    Under måndagskvällen sände Måns Zelmerlöw och Jonas Björkman galan ”Walk with us”.

    Under måndagskvällen sände Måns Zelmerlöw, 34,och Jonas Björkman, 48, insamlingsgalan ”Walk with us” – en kväll med Zelmerlöw och Björkman för ungdomars framtid”. Det bjöds på en stjärnspäckad direktsänd tv-gala för att samla in pengar till stiftelsen Zelmerlöw & Björkman foundation som framförallt jobbar med att utbilda barn och ungdomar i Kenya.

    – Det kändes fantastiskt bra, jag tycker att det blev en jättefin dynamik mellan sorgset och hoppfullt. Jag tycker verkligen att vi fick fram vad vi står för och hur vi jobbar med stiftelsen, säger Måns Zelmerlöw.

    Han tycker sändningen gick över förväntan och han har till och med fått mersmak.

    – Det kändes väldigt proffsigt. Grymma artister och jättebra snack. Det här vill jag ju göra varje år. Förhoppning

    Biography

    Måns Zelmerlöw, whose full name is Måns Petter Albert Sahlén Zelmerlöw, was born on June 13th, 1986 in Lund, Sweden. His mother, Birgitta Sahlén, is professor of speech therapy at the University of Lund, and his father, Sven-Olof Zelmerlöw, is a specialist in surgery. Måns has a younger sister.

    Måns came into contact with music at an early age. His parents signed him up for piano lessons, but he didn’t really enjoy it. One of his friends played the guitar, and Måns also practiced playing and this instrument was more to his taste, and he also enjoyed singing a lot.

    He attended the music-oriented branch of the Lars Erik Larsson School in Lund and was part of the school choir project. In 2002 he played one of the brothers in the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" which was performed at Slagthuset in Malmö. In his third year of high school, Måns played the lead role in "Little Shop of Horrors" at the city theatre in Lund.


    2005-2006 - Idols / Let's Dance

    The first major public appearance for Måns was in 2005 in the second season of the Swedish edition of Idols. He was able to convince the jury

    Måns Zelmerlöw har ägnat tiden efter det tragiska missfallet åt att arrangera en gala för behövande barn tillsammans med Jonas Björkman.

    På måndag direktsänds ”Walk with us” på Aftonbladet.

    – Det är klart att det har underlättat att jobba och känna att man gör nåt vettigt med sin tid, säger han.

    En skola för 300 elever, internat för 135 flickor som antingen är föräldralösa eller riskerar att utsättas för våld och övergrepp i hemmet, ett sjukhus och en kommande yrkeshögskola.

    Allt drivs i Ngong utanför Nairobi i Kenya och bekostas av Måns Zelmerlöws, 34, och Jonas Björkmans, 48, stiftelse Zelmerlöw & Björkman foundation.

    Men covid-19 har stoppat duon från att hålla sin årliga välgörenhetsmiddag för att samla in de fem miljoner kronor som årligen behövs för att hålla välgörenhetsprojekten igång.
